The girls in the history of surfing
The practice of surfing has been evolving in its more than 500 years of history, already in the 18th century we have testimonies like the one of Captain Cook that relates the strange form that men and women had to slide on the waves in oval wood boards in the coast of Hawaii.
As surfer girls you have to know the figure of Rell Sun, the most influential woman in the world of surfing, and by far one of the best female surfers who have ridden the waves.
She rode a wave for the first time at the age of 4, imagine the legend she became and the reference she is for all the girls who surf. There is a documentary about her life called ‘Heart of the Sea’ that we certainly recommend you to see, since you will really want to grab a board and go out to sea.
Besides being one of the first important figures in professional women’s surfing, Rell Sunn was the first woman lifeguard in Hawaii and founded the Women’s Professional Surfing Association. Sunn reached the top of the international ranking of professional surfers in 1982.
Now you can enjoy a specialized surf camp by experienced and qualified instructors in an idyllic natural environment like Lanzarote and have a great time with your friends.
We are waiting for you!
Some advice if you are going to visit our surf camp for girls
If you are an experienced surfer you don’t need to read this section because what we are going to explain you already know. In our more than 20 years of experience we have seen everything when someone shows up to pick up a board for the first time, so in this section we are going to give you some very useful advice:
On one hand there is the clothing, the ideal is a wetsuit or some leggins because the bikini is quite uncomfortable to get on the board and move with him comfortably when you go to take a wave. If you don’t have a wetsuit or leggings you can take a tight swimsuit with a short sleeve shirt. It’s not the same but to get out of the way it’s good enough.
Ah! and another thing … Forget about makeup during the hours of surfing, it is super uncomfortable gets drunk and gets in the eyes.
